About this class

This class is an introduction to user experience (UX) research.

It will survey a number of methods and techniques for understanding users’ needs and practices and translating them into design decisions. Through a series of quick exercises and then a major class project, students will learn to use these methods both creatively and appropriately to ask questions and solve problems.

Topics include:

  • Planning research projects
  • Observation and interviewing
  • Usability (lab-based, remote, and mobile)
  • Surveys
  • Common UX deliverables
  • Reports, workshops, and other ways of delivering

Prerequisites: 203 or consent of instructor.
