Part 1 – What does this object mean to you?
The Turbah symbolizes justice/injustice, earth, and cleanliness(amongst many other things). I always try to have it with me so that I may pray anywhere. Its amazing how such a small object can keep my ego in check and keep me grounded at all times.

Part 3
1. What if we looked at all objects, people, thoughts, and things in the world this way?
We do, to some extent, look at objects, people, thoughts and things in this way but after doing it once (detail varies according to instance) we seem to put it in a category and move on. This type of careful expertise is most likely only practiced in domains that individuals have mastered. Knowing the origins and components of things gives insight into an object that is difficult to get through any other means. Binding objects to this unique perspective would allow us to move past a materialistic/superficial view. More specifically – if done with people it would allow for better empathic understanding (intersectional issues aside). Although looking at the world this way may allow for deep and fruitful thought and insight it comes at the expense of time and mental capacity.

2. When would we need to look at the world this way?
We would need to look at the world this way when attempting to master or dive deep into a domain. Viewing all the “tools” in a domain whether it is words, objects, software, etc. in this way allows for someone to excel in a way that wouldn’t be possible without this method.

3. Has the meaning of this object changed?
Yes and no. It hasn’t really changed as I have always held the Turban in high regard but it has allowed me to revisit its importance and historical meaning. It seems that one would have to continuously do this practice to truly achieve “masterhood” of any domain, object, things, etc.
