Gestalt Redo Final Submit
===================================

Set: Fierce and Dynamic
Visual Language (VOICE)
Contrast of Space: 70-95% white space
Shape of Forms: Square 1×1, 1×2, 1×3, 1×6
Size of Forms: Mostly a playful combination of 1×1 and 1×3

Objective Rules (assignment rules)
#1 All forms should be at an 45 degrees angle
#2 All compositions should be as centered as possible. Forms are distributed horizontally to avoid a whimsical impression and create a dynamic balance.

Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? : A sprinter, the blurry lines a fast object creates in a photograph with a long shutter time.
Process: I tried out different angles and form scales for the first to see which one would feel the most dynamic. Afterwards i tried to stay as consistent as possible with the other compositions of this set and only make necessary changes.

Set: Whimsical and Delicate

Visual Language (VOICE)
Contrast of Space: 90-95% white space
Shape of Forms: Square 1×1, 1×2, one 1×6 form

Size of Forms: As small as possible with one exception. One 1×6 form is meant to break the rhythm of the last composition and create emphasis.

Objective Rules (assignment rules)
#1 Use as small forms as possible
#2 Always use a slightly angel that almost seems a mistake, but use the same angel consistently to avoid ambiguity.

#3 Keep the composition as balanced and centered as possible

Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? : I was thinking of a group of small ducks following their mother. They are very clumsy and whimsical and easily drip, but still follow each other in a line and stick together as a group.

Process: Similar to the force and dynamic i tried my interpretation with the first three compositions. In order to avoid ambiguity I created a small pear ruler with an slight angel to position the forms in always the same slight angle, with the variation that the rotation is some times to the left and sometimes to the right. I tried to still add some symmetry and balance by centering the composition as much as possible.

Set: SAFE EFFICIENT

Visual Language (VOICE)
Contrast of Space: At least 75% white space
Shape of Forms: Square 1×1, 1×2, 1×3, 1×6
Orientation of Forms: vertical at 90 degree
Size of Forms: size should be not too small to not make a whimsical impression but only as big as necessary in order to be efficient.

Objective Rules (assignment rules)
#1 Try to express the assigned composition with as little pieces as possible
#2 Try to be almost boring, only change what is necessary in the different compositions
#3 Try to be as centered and symmetrical as possible

#4 Don’t use large distances between forms

Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? : I was still thinking of bars that prevent a thief to break into a house or stable pillars that keep your house stable.

Explain your process: I first tried to figure out a set of rules that would prevent a big variety between the different compositions. It was clear at the beginning that I wanted the forms to be vertical at 90 degree, so i mostly played around with scale. In the end I had almost 20 different composition and decided for the ones that seem the most boring which somewhat represents efficiency in my opinion.
