Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? : Forward – Arrow
Process: I began by attempting to give the piece a feeling of motion by setting up the form at roughly 45 degrees, horizontally, and stacking up on one another towards the corner of the page. I wanted to give it a feeling of an arrow going one direction then the oppoisite and finally ending in the direction with much more concrete flows.

Contrast of Space: At least 40% white space
Shape of Forms: Square 1×1, 1×3, 1×5
Placement of Form: Balance should be strived for but the attention is to the middle

Objective Rules (assignment rules)
#1 Do not use forms to touch the center form
#2 Forms should create effect of coming into the center

Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? : Greener on the other side
Explain your process: I began with the thought of how it is somewhat funny how we as humans I believe the other side is greener without realizing what we currently have. I thus began with a center piece and two pieces on the edge of the piece that were “creeping” in. I attempted to have this depict humans coming closer to the center and chasing the center. As the piece evolves some get closer then farther while another piece consumes the center. The objective following that show all pieces with smaller pieces next to it and the center piece gone. The center than reappears and the set concludes with all the outer pieces having squares. I took this to mean the ones that may have been smaller but focused on their present were able to achieve the “center” but the others who had chased resulted in only one getting the center.

Shape of Forms: Square 1×1, 1×2, 1×6, 1×4
Orientation of Forms: 90 degrees
Size of Forms: size should be equal
Placement of Form: center
Space between Forms : At least 1 inch from border and at-least 1 inch apart

Objective Rules (assignment rules)
#1 Do not move center piece unless you must
#2 All new forms should be placed either vertically or horizontally (if possible)
#3 Do not use more than 5 forms at any time.

Interpretation of Visual Language
What did you interpret to apply your rules? :A form of magnetic play that maintained balance.
Explain your process: I began by placing the first form in the exact center of the piece and began by adding to it as to keep balance within the image. The center piece was a constant while the remaining forms either fought for it (resulting in balance due to the fact that they are equal – like magnets) or attempting to include it all the while maintaining balance.
