Assignment 1. Individual. This is due at 9am on February 9. You will need to send an e-mail to Prof. Hansen and to Carinne with your writeup attached by then. Write a max 2 page analysis of the IBM case (from Session 3) based on the following questions. (Note: do not spend time summarizing the case, but do offer case evidence for your arguments.)

• In your opinion, what is the key innovation problem experienced by the managers in the IBM case? What seem to be the root causes of this problem?
• Do you think the managers in the case did a good job addressing the problem—why, why not?
• What part(s) of the Innovation Value Chain was a challenge in the case? Do you think they solved the innovation value chain problem well?
