Apple Bans App That Exposes Shady Side of iPhone Manufacturing

In line with class readings and lectures on topics of free speech conflicting with private interests, and the increased reliance of such speech through privately owned services, Apple has pulled the game “Phone Story” from their app store just days after it was approved*. The game ” depicted 4-different game scenarios that included scenes exposing labor conditions at Foxconn, where iPhone manufacturing takes place and the increasing number of suicides that take place on Foxconn’s property.”

Apple’s explanation cites a violation of rules. Sound familiar?

See the story here.

* You may not be able to play the game on an iPhone but you can on an Android.
