Photovoice

A widely-used method that gives cameras to participants to tell their own stories.

In academia, this method is based on the work of’ Caroline C. Wang and Mary Anne Burris:

Wang, C., & Burris, M. A. (1997). Photovoice: Concept, Methodology, and Use for Participatory Needs Assessment. Health Education & Behavior, 24(3).

However, it has its origins in photojournalism, in Jim Hubbard’s project Shooting Back.
