These people started at experienced photographers and had access to pretty good audio equipment  But they had never done this kind of work before and did *3* pieces each in a week of fulltime work.  These are from his basic class.  He also teaches more advanced classes.

Duke Center for Documentary Studies
These students are more advanced than you, but these projects are not beyond your capabilities.  Longer than I expect from you.
ACM CHI Conference Golden Mouse Award Winners. Awards are based more on content than production values, I suspect. These videos vary as to whether they have professional film-makers involved. As far as I can tell, neither of these does.
CHI is the primary conference for Human-Computer Interaction.  I would expect better of you in some ways — e.g., the 2009 winner starts with bad audio.

  • Microwave Racing  (2012) – “This video tied for third place in a recent HFES YouTube video contest about communicating Human Factors research to the general public -.. also just received the ‘Golden mouse award’ for this video at the CHI video showcase for ‘best thought piece’!”

“Curated” videos about User Experience research & design — some of these are talking head videos, chosen because of the content. Some are simply videos of conference talks.  But some, more interesting, are product design or concept videos.

Bold Edition – I might not use a narrator with such a strong accent for a US audience, but otherwise this is interesting. Here are some of their pieces — similar to what you might do. I suspect others of theirs would be good, too.
