about me
this is a response blog to the Developing Rural Computing Applications (DRCA) course in the iSchool at UC Berkeley, fall 2008.
…about me: i’m a 1 year MPH student in the School of Public Health with a background in Biology and International Agricultural Development (MS)…over the last few years i have worked on issues in latin america and the middle east that span the following “categories” — rural community health, infectious disease prevention and control, sustainable agricultural development, train-the-trainer capacity building. since april of 2008 i have been working with the NGO the Sustainable Sciences Institute in Managua, Nicaragua and San Francisco, California to help organize and ICT for Health program
…my interest in this course: 1) to get to know more about what ICTD initiatives exist on the UCB campus, 2) to identify possible niches that i can become more involved with from the Public Health side of things, and 3) to engage in the multidisciplinary conversation about the challenges and opportunities in sustainable ICTD design, implementation and evaluation.
